Sarah Abrevaya Stein holds the Viterbi Family Chair in Mediterranean Jewish Studies at UCLA. She is the author or editor of nine books, including Family Papers: A Sephardic Journey Through the Twentieth Century and Plumes: Ostrich Feathers, Jews, and a Lost World of Global Commerce.
Abraham Socher

Abraham Socher was educated at UCLA, Harvard University, and UC Berkeley, where he received a PhD in history. He is the author of The Radical Enlightenment of Solomon Maimon: Judaism, Philosophy, Heresy (Stanford University Press, 2006) and coeditor of The Autobiography of Solomon Maimon: The Complete Translation (Princeton University Press, 2019). He is a professor emeritus at Oberlin College.
